ORCA Swampmeet & Lunch

Hello to all ORCA members and locals!

Some of you may know me and others may not but I am Christie Lo and am your new activities director! If I haven't met you yet I look forward to doing so soon. I want to let you know that I have some great ideas planned for 2007 and the first one is finally the ORCA Swapmeet and Lunch!

This event will take place on June 9th, 2007 at Sea In the City from 10am to 3pm. The address is:

The purpose of this swapmeet is to provide a venue for you to buy, sell, or trade your dry goods with other reef enthusiasts as well as socialize and have a great time with some lunch. I know it can be difficult to meet up with other folks who live in another town - it can feel like they are on the other side of the state when you have to find a time and place to meet that works out for everyones busy schedule so now is your chance!

We will have tables and chairs setup to display your goods as well as a tank or two* with water to test out things like powerheads and other goods that run wet. Also there will be a raffle for a few goodies so if you don't have anything you really want to buy sell or trade you can come hang out and enjoy the raffle and some good food.

I would also like to say that I am new at this position and am always on the lookout for ideas, suggestions, and help in general! For this meet in particular if you have any tents you would like to donate (kind of like the April meeting, those were great!) as well as any tables please let me know. I am working on getting the other things we need for this meet and will let you know if I need any more help. Many of the details are still being worked out but I wanted to give you all advanced notice so you can plan ahead for the swapmeet!

Just to ammend this because of SITC's hours and available electricity lets bump the start to 11am .. we can sleep in a little then anyhow

Also I would like to add a reminder that this is an event put on for hobbyists by hobbyists. I know there are a few of you who have little small projects you run out of your home to make a little extra money. While that is awesome in and of itself, I would like to ask that you respect that one of our sponsor stores is helping us host this event and it should be maintained on the hobbyist level for selling things and is not for livestock or frags.

Just want everything to go smoothly and not have anyone's toes stepped on, thanks!!!

I will be more thanhappy to loan you the 10X10 Ez Up tent I brought to the April meeting if needed.

Hah I did say swampmeet didn't I. Well chalk it up to high words per minute and horrible, terrible accuracy


Bring as much stuff as you want.. I was just trying to convey that everyone in charge would prefer that you attend this as an individual and hobbyist rather than a business (I know some folks have their own local little things but that just isn't what this meet is about especially since it is being hosted at one of our local sponsors- I hope everyone understands its nothing personal just a respect thing)
