Received my order a bit ago and as expected it was packed very well, heat packs still warm, all good. The bartlett anthias are now looking great and swimming around in their quarantine tank, they were somewhat stressed when I opened them up. The rabbitfish is badly stressed thou. He is swimming slightly , but mostly kinda hoovering in one spot. He is off the bottom and staying upright. All of his fins are stuck straight out and he has large gray spots all over his skin. I guess Fedex was a little rough on them.

Just wanted to let you know about this and as always thanks for the great service.

Regards
Bud

Update: Anthias- great addition, beautiful fish, eating like pigs, they fit right in

Rabbitfish:I am really not very sure about this fish, in QT, he stays for the most part under the sponge filter crowded right up near the base of it. Has dark gray sploches showing all over his body. Sometimes you can watch him from a distance, and he may move out somewhat, some or all of the gray sploches disappear. When he sees any kind of movement, the sploches reappear and he cowers back under the sponge filter. Its not eating. I have even tried soaking the food with GarlicExtreme. Nori, Hair algae, bryopsis, even some pellets just in case, still no luck. At night when there is no light in the room, and just the light on the QT, he might come out and swim around kinda eratic, bumping in the glass, back and forth, real fast like, and the discoloration is gone. Any ideas what to do?

BigManBud,

The spines of the Rabbitfish will become erect when this fish is startled or stressed. The dark blotches you see are also a defense mechanism to help them camouflage or hide with their surroundings. We would recommend providing ample hiding spaces and continue to offer a variety of foods. You may even want to try leaving a bit of algae or lettuce on an algae clip or rubberbanded to a rock to see if he will eat when you are not in the vicinity of the aquarium. Please keep us updated as to the health of your fish.
