Hi!

I'm sure you've been bombarded with emails and phone calls b/c of the sale (wasn't able to get through all morning).

Wanted to make sure the AI Sol Blues were in stock before I placed a large order, but since I was hoping my order would ship out today, I went ahead and placed the online order early this morning and selected premium shipping (Order #53004).

Please let me know if they are not in stock so I can make alternative plans.

Thanks so much!
Shirley

And I ordered 6 of them and got a call yesterday saying they were back ordered for 2-3 weeks.

10% off was pretty nice. I only wish I would have not hesitated on the $2500 of Vortechs that I was looking at as well. Guess I will have to wait until the next sell. Independence Day maybe?

Thank you all for patiently waiting for AI units to arrive. We appreciate your business and support as always.

I guess the "selling things they don't actually have in stock" is a standard approach for these guys.

I will be posting my horror story later, but I guess we can agree that buying from aquacave is a mistake.

All of their competitors price match, so why not get the peace of mind that comes with buying from a trustworthy company that has been a historical leader in this industry.

What a mistake. Never again.

ChrisV,

We spoke this morning about what happened to an item in your order. The manufacturer did not have enough units to send directly to your location and our shipment was sent before we were able to request to pull it out from our pallet. We are getting our shipment this Monday. We apologize for our mistake in thinking that we would be able to ship this directly. Sorry for the misunderstanding and per your request we are refunding your account today. Please contact us by phone for us to offer a solution.

Thank you for your business.

Its a pretty standard approach for many companies. But I guess you have never heard of dropshipping, where items are shipped directly from the manufacturer? There are alos many sites that presell popular items before they are available. Then there is always the backorder, a very common thing as well, practiced by most every hobby retailer I have dealt with.

Without involving my personal experience in this thread (it will get its own thread when i have a bit more time to deal with it), I will make the general comment that I have been keeping aquariums for ~20 years and in that time I have not had to deal with drop shipping. I am, in general, not opposed to drop shipping. I DO think that when a retailer doesn't have something in stock, they should tell people up front about it before running their credit cards. Selling things you dont have...there must be a word for that.

When I buy from that one really big fish store in PA or when I go to that other really popular retail website, they go out of their way to keep the customer in the loop and treat them well.

It is called drop shipping!

I have no idea what your personal horror story with AquaCave is. But what does it matter if they ship out from their store, or if a manufacturer ships it out for them? It is pretty widely used, especially with large or heavy items, as it saves shipping and other inventory costs. The only problem I have with dropshipping is that I cannot use the retailers location as an estimate for shipping time. The positive side is you are getting stock directly from the manufacturer, so there is a better chance of the newest possible...non-returned stuff.

From what I can gather, it seems like you were supposed to get a dropshipped item, but there was not enough supply? They did not pull it from the order going to AquaCave in time, so now AquaCave will be receiving this item, then shipping it to you.

Now they are refunding your account, correct? Please tell me how that is a horror story.

James, This isnt my thread. My intention is to commiserate, not hijack.

I will post my own thread when I have a bit more time. For now i sent you a PM regarding my experience.

I have been using Aquacave for a good while now. I ordered 6 bulbs one was broke, they did everything they needed to to make me happy. I still order from Aquacave, yep a lot of stores match there price but few have shipping as cheap.

latest info?

latest info?

What is the latest info on the AI blues? Waiting on that shipped email.

I like using Aquacave for my orders cause of their site and shipping but I do always call them first but they will still be my first choice

Haha make sure you guys count the items in your box and check to make sure that they actually sent you your stuff ;-)

chrisv, you keep alluding to your horror story, when asked about it, you said on 6/03/2011 that this was not your thread, and you would discuss your problem.

Aquacave has responded here and seems very willing to assist you.

You have never posted a thread explaining your situation.

Then you come back here saying, BEWARE!

Chrisv, please post a thread explaining your situation, if you want to keep warning people.

Or better yet, just hush. You keep saying you'll post your horror story, "when you have time." You haven't "had time" to post it, yet still have time to trash, what appears to be a great vendor/sponsor, on a thread, not at all related to your "issue."
