Ordered Powder Brown

t5Nitro,

The Powder Brown Tang is an herbivore and will feed mainly on algae or dried seaweed. Meaty foods should be offered at least once every other week, as they will accept these foods occasionally. Foods containing Spirulina algae or dried seaweed, and other vegetable matter are the main diet of the Powder Brown Tang.

We hope this information is helpful.

I have been feeding formula 2 flakes (herbivore), formula 1 pellets once in a while, frozne brine/mysis and all soaked in garlic xtreme. I did notice one thing today, he took 1 piece of the formula 2 flakes! He really does go nuts for the algae clip though. When it is gone, he just keeps swimming back to the clip.

So powder browns may not always eat the meaty foods? Just was curious because my yellow tang will hog anything down. The eggcrate is still up and noticed the powder brown go to the eggcrate more today. When he does this, the yellow tang came up to the eggcrate near him almost nose to nose, seems like the yellow tang does not flare anymore, and maybe an occasional turn around to show the tail, but not a fast turn around and not whipping it. I will leave them separated for a while yet, hopefully it works out, otherwise I am interested in a veliferum sailfin from your site. Looked and you had a whole bunch, and now zero today in stock!

Also was hoping to find that magnificent foxface on the Diver's Den. Tell those divers to go get a few

Let me say though, your fish are always amazing. My yellow tang, still after many months of owning him, is very skiddish. The powder brown from Live Aquaria was never skiddish and I actually hand fed him seaweed yesterday :D

t5Nitro,

Thank you for your update on your Powder Brown Tang and the compliments on our amazing fish. We are happy to hear your Powder Brown is eating. With continued acclimation and feeding the algae it enjoys, with some meaty foods, you will have a delightful fish for your enjoyment.

Wow... I had a Powder Brown tang just two weeks ago... he got ick and the ick killed everything in my tank except for my Yellow Tang. So good luck with him. Very nice fish. Pictures make me miss mine.. :(

Mine is itching on the star polyps and overflows. Hopefully he keeps eating the algae clips soaked in garlic xtreme and gets thru it.
