Ordering small amount of LR

I want to order about 5lbs of LR for my nano.

What would be the cheapist way to have it shiped to the New york, New york area.

On your website it says that FedEx costs $5.50 per pound and that your live rock is $5.00/lb.

So to buy 5lbs and have it shipped it would be around $52.50:eek2: :eek1: :eek2:

Also you say that your LR is shipped in water. So does that mean that my 5lbs of lr is really 2lbs of lr and 3lbs of water???

Unfortunately, no way to ship small amounts economically, as airlines and fed ex both have minimum charges...

I was not planing to but...... i could use "the Package" in the tank.

But i still want to know you say that your LR is shipped in water. So does that mean that my lr is really mostly water weight???


So lets say i get the 10 gallon "Package" do i really get 20lbs of LR and 10lbs of sand or is that mostly water??

Since the package comes in two groups the $30-$50 shipping to the east coast is more like $60-$100 for both parts or is the $30-$50 the average shipping toatle?

Correct...

a box of rock is 25-30 pounds...with water about 50#

but every shipment is different...size of rock...ect..

There is a minimum 100# charge by all the airlines...

so 10# or 100# same charge....anything over 100# is the minimum 100# charge plus however many additional pounds..

The shipping costs are only a small part of the cost when you buy larger packages or lots of LR. For smaller quantities you might want to go in with other folks in your area and split the shipment.
