Orenji vs Setosa

Hey all I was just wondering? Is the only dif between them that the Setosa will grow " branches" and the Orenji only encrust? Thx in advance.

must be the name that makes me think that. Although I have to say my setosa is more pinky red than orange.

Are there different 'strains' of setosa out there? Mine is unmistakable bright orange color, but I have seen setosas that have a pinkish hue. Is it just different tank conditions and lighting that causes the different colors? or are they different setosas?

when you get a setosa you say to yourself, wow! now that is orange how could anything get more brightly orange than that? T

Then you get yourself an orenji and you say, oh my! Holy frack! Now I see what all the who de do is about. Both nice corals but the orenji has got something special. my camera refuses to capture that magic unfortunatly.

I have a setosa and it is def bright orange
maybe if overlit they change to more of a pink hue

That's my experience. I have pieces in bright light and some shade. Bright light = orangish/pink. Shade = orange.

I just looked at a Setosa thread and I see setosa's in red/pink and orange shades. You guys are right in that most of them seem more orange but the color must vary on this guy. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1470059&highlight=setosa&page=2

Here is mine...sorry but I just cropped it from another picture. I do see some orange in it but mostly redy pink.

Does anyone have pics of the "grafted" Orenji? I have seen one tiny frag recently at a swap that had a flick of green in it. (sorta green) Wondering if this will spread out like this as it grows?

i also think that a setosa in a T5 tank can become more reddish-pink depending on the bulbs, so maybe the pinker looking ones are from t5 tanks where the spectrum can promote reds oranges and pinks.......

Here are few few old pics of mine. Both are pretty orange for me, with the Orenji being bright and slower growing.

My Setosa under T5's placed higher in the tank turned pink. I moved it lower with a little bit of shading and after a couple months regained it's nice orange color.

My setosa is highlighter pink. Very bright and definitely not even close to orange. My tank is lit with t5 and it is placed high in the tank. I will post a pic later.

I have 2 colonys of Setosa in the same wather parameters both diferent light conditions. One is under radium 20K ( bright orange )and the other is under T5's ( it turn more pink). Tomorrow I hope receive a True Orenji frag.
