Organism on Rock ID

I have some kind of organism growing on rock, and it extrudes a long white silky threadlike matter from it from time to time. Couldn't find a suitable name for it. The main section is yellow, and tubular, like a worm. The surrounding area is greyish, and hard.

thanks for replys.

Sincerely,

David

It's a vermetid snail. They can be harmful to corals, as their 'web' will often irritate them. You could put a dab of super glue gel over it, or try to remove it manually. Just be careful, as their shells are very sharp. Hope this helps.

You could crush them too. I have to do that with the ones that end up on the live rock and glass. If If you can dislodge them from the surface they are attached to, you can remove them from the tank. Hope this helps.

I imagine its two animals the vermatid snail surrounded by a sponge. Vermetid snails aren't really a problem if you keep your nutrients in check. They can get annoying though.
