Hello, My name is Mel. I belong to the ''Florida Marine Aquarium Society'' down in South Florida. On Aug 17 I will be heading up to Orlando for Discovery Cove...

I want to know if there are stores in the area worth checking out.

Thanks for your time...

Stickied post has a list of a ton of stores around here. I'd recommend checking out Sea in the city if you only had to choose one.

lol....I was so excited about posting and finding out the possibilities that I did not notice the sticky post....thanks

btw hows the nano coming along, I will post pics of mine tonight on your thread for you to check out.

Its going well so far. I think its already done cycling because I used uber-cured rock. I've added a bunch of flake food over the past couple of days and it spikes the ammonia and then the ammonia disappears pretty quickly. There's no die off on the rock as its so well cured, so I've added one uncooked shrimp to really make sure the cycle completes. I plan on leaving it in for a day or two and then waiting till all levels are zero again to start adding anything.

And, I definitely can't wait to start stocking it! Already got a tail spot blenny on the way to SITC (hopefully).

Looking forward to seeing those pics, hope you have a good time in Orlando. I'm sure you will :)

There's a few stores in the orlando (and surrounding area)
Does anyone have a preferred store, one they'd recommend to be a must see...

Sea in the City is what I would recommend. It doesn't have the most fish, but it has the best and most healthy frags, whether they be SPS, LPS, or softies.

If you're looking more for fish or drygoods, I would reccomend Ocean Blue. Sometimes their stock is a little sickly IMO, but they're fairly priced and theres ALOT to choose from.

If you are looking for fish look no further than Fishy Business, he is considered one of the dinosaurs in the area. He has been around for a very long time and is a great person to deal with, the best fish selection in town by far, and not to mention the best prices as well. For corals i would go to Ocean Direct or Reef Works, still have not been to Sea in the city but i have heard nothing but good things.

Oh and by the way if you have never been to Discovery Cove before you are going to love it. One of my favorite places in the world and the best thing is it doesnt even feel like your in orlando when you go, your gonna love it.

Awesome!!! Yes I have never been to Discovery Cove, and I can not wait to go!
I also can't wait to go to all these stores...

Yep, SITC and FB would be the places for visitors. Ocean Direct (formerly Fish Bowl) is a good place too. If you make the trip for Fishy, usually pays to just stop in. They get nice stuff as well.

Unfortunately, no Big Al's up here lol...

Make sure get a travel list and that isn't your "to-go" list, you've got the farthest two back to back first. Start up north and work you're way south. Usually do that when my parents come up.

You are going to LOVE the tail spot blenny! He really is a showoff, and he has the coolest personality! Mine is one of my favorite fish, and he looks adorable when he lays on some of my zoos :)

I just listed them in no specific order... I will google map them to see where each one is exactly located, so I could plan a route...
Thanks though, good looking out!!! :)
