ORP calibration failure what fluid do I use?

I purchased a 400mv ORP calibration fluid and it did not work on the Neptune system. It seemed to want to use the 7.00 and then the 4.00 pH? fluid?? this does not seem correct to me? It is asking for a quinine solution as well. Please advise.. I have looked at all of my calibration fluids and NONE of them have quinine as a active ingredient. I am getting tired of buying crap.. My tank is cycling and I have have bought 2000$ worth of crap.

I just want to calibrate my ORP probe.

Thank you for your support!

Detailed instructions about the necessary calibration fluids for ORP are in the Apex manual and the PM1 manual. http://www.neptunesystems.com/support/docs/

Frankly, I would not even bother calibrating ORP... it will be close enough. With ORP, the absolute value is not nearly as important as the trend and range.

Well so thats not an answer to my question. Do I use pH calibration fluid? The ORP fluid stated that i need to adjust the reading to read 400mv but neptune doesnt do it that way. am I supposed to use pH 4.0 and 7.0 fluid? YES i do have the Apex manual!! but it dont make sense that I would use different classifications of data to complete two different calibrations.
I am aware that ORP is not a deathknell nor a scientific bastion.. however i do have the probe installed and I want some kind quorum that I may be able to interpret.

Thank You.

You may want to take the attitude down a notch or two. Russ, like everyone else on the forum, is just a fellow Apex user who's trying to help you out. He doesn't get paid to do this.

If you'd like to complain, you should do so directly to Neptune.

Dude, RTFM. It says to make ORP calibration solutions out of 4.0 and 7.0 pH calibration fluid by mixing in Quinhydrone powder. Pretty straight forward. Process is listed at the top of page 6 of the PM1 manual.

400mv solution can be used to see how accurate the current calibration is to see if you want to go through the trouble of the calibration procedure.
