Orp Calibration with 400mv

Hi,

I was wondering if there is a way to calibrate ORB probes with 400mv solution. I have a couple pouches of PINPOINT® ORP (Redox) 400 Calibration Fluid, and was wondering if they could be used with my apex?

Thanks,

Adam

Thanks for the response Ken, I am not sure how I missed this.

Could I use the 400mv packets to check the calibration of my probe? What I mean is when I put the probe in the solution should it read 400mv?

I don't think that would work either; when I tried it I never got accurate readings.

I bought the 400mV packets and when I put my ORP probe into it my APEX read 980. So it will not work. Thank god I didnt buy a whole lot of packets.

Wait a sec...I don't get it. A solution that has an ORP value of 400, should read as 400 no matter what probe you put in there, right? This is what I was told on another thread and I bought 2 packs of the Pinpoint ORP Calibration fluid. I don't see how the brand of fluid matters.

Anyway, the recommend calibration fluid kit that you make reference to above is not sold anymore. What's the current recommendation?

Anyone had success with the 400mV packets? I seem to agree with the comments above that it would make sense to work, but would rather do it the known method.

The project that Kenargo posted is discontinued now. What else is compatible with the Apex calibration method?

Just Google for quinhydrone powder. There are scientific supply sites that sell it. That and pH 4 and 7 solutions are all you need.
