Oscar's 270 gal upgrade

So 3 years into the hobby, many mistakes, wins, and key learnings. I am ready to upgrade my 150 gal SPS tank into a 270 gal starfire DD tank.

Here are the plans:

Tank dimensions: 72x30x30 Sump: 72x18x23.5

Total water volume minus displacement: 330 gal

Stand: DIY

Flow: 2 MP40's/ (6) Koralia 4's , Closed loop driven by an eheim 1262 and mag18

Lighting: (2) Lumenbright pendants 250 watt Icecap MH supplemented by 4 t5's.

Filtration:

350 LBs of rock

Bubbleking Supermarin 250 or ATB 1050 deluxe. Still debating.

Red Sea Ozone unit 100mg/hr feeding into a DIY reactor

Refugium

Carbon, and maybe GFO

Supplements:

Randy's Recipe 1 Calcium, AlK, Mag (Maybe dosers down the road)

I decided to build an additional section for each side of the tank to hold extra equipment and give the stand more of a "pop" This is my first carpentry project and the time spent to get to this stage indicates that.

Decided to go with an external pump. Here is the Reeflo barracuda

Started to drill the sump

Complete, really easy and simple as long as you have a steady hand and find the right pace with the drill

used painter's tape under the hole, it helped catch the glass shreds when the drill punched the hole out
