Tanglovers 520 Gallon Display Build

That is a nice Moorish Idol you got there ;)
I am glad to see it has a spaceous new home. Your tank is coming along very nicely. Continued success!

The idol loves it in there. The bandit pair is doing awesome as well. Was a long drive to go get them but worth every minute after getting these fish home and seeing how well they were conditioned!

Added the next group of fish to the tank today. No more will be added for a few weeks at the soonest now as they are still in QT or not purchased yet :)

Today I added:

4 Cirrhilabrus lineatus - 1 male and 3 females
5 Cirrhilabrus jordani - 1 male and 4 females
1 Pygoplites diacanthus - Yellow Bellied Version
2 Centropyge loricula - Pair - TRUE Hawaiians
2 Centropyge multicolor - Pair
2 Genicanthus bellus - Pair

I will work on getting some pics this weekend of a few of these additions. Most of these fish I have had for years in my previous setup.

i see that you have used 1" seaswirls. have you come up with an idea to direct the flow down into the tank more or do you like it at the top?

the reason i ask is i have a very similar set up and i want to direct the flow down more. i can't just angle the pipes or the seaswirls themselves as i have hard plumbed them and the hole thru my bracing is to narrow and the glass is to thick.....

your rock work is great, i can't wait to see corals in the tank. keep up the good work!!!

Thank you for the comments about the aquascaping, I love it. Even more now there are some fish in there! My wife gets 100% of the aquascaping credit, I have zero patience for that and she is great at it!

I wanted the flow from the sea swirls to be at the top only for some nice surface current. They are 1" in size but I am only pushing around 1000 gph out of each one. I went with 1" incase I wanted to push more flow. I am considering putting a reducer thread into the end just to give the flow a little more velocity but will see once I play with it a bit more.

The closed loops are the primary flow creators currently, I will be adding a couple MP60s on one end once corals start getting stocked and growing out.

It may be unsightly, but I imagine you could thread in a PVC nipple and a 45 angled downward on the sea swirl, the end of mine are threaded and assume all are this way.

Few new pics...

Counting on it Brian!

Well the back tanks are now plumbed in with the 520 so the total system is now together and all as one. Total water volume is around 850-900 gallons now. This means my space to work in is freed up a bit! The make shift 100g sump is out of the way as you see it in a couple of the pics.

The Apex is up and running, doing light and temperature control at this time. I do not have the port forwarding part done yet so I can not monitor it online yet.

Tomorrow planning on getting the second bubble king added to the system and start getting the calcium reactor hooked up.

My game plan is to have most of the equipment setup all done by the beginning of February so I can start on our room remodel in the basement and get started on the large freshwater build we are doing.

Will get some new pics up the next day or so!

tank looks great, love the aquascaping.. cant wait to see more.

I plan on switching out my cc for sand soon.. is the sand u have a good choice or will agronite work just as well. (I only used cc cause i wanted extreme flow) im sure i can work around that somehow w sand.. and soon as its full of sps i dont see how i could possibly clean the cc anyway!

Thanks guys! I do not have any other pics of the flame angels yet, will try to get more.

Here is the backbone of the system...

Between these two beasts and the automatic, daily water change system that is getting isntalled shortly, I should be able to handle almost any bioload while keeping the SPS corals happy.
