Osmolator 5017 water damage?

Hi Tunze,

I have been using the 3155 ATO for about a week. Works great, until last night I was awakened by its alarm. I had the controller attached to the side of my Red Sea Max. The supplied velcro came unglued from the back of the controller, which then dropped into a container of RODI water. Just my luck. The controller was bonkers. I opened the controller and cleaned the board thoroughly with GC Electronic Cleaner Degreaser spray and tooth brush (I'm an electronics buff) and dried the board with a hair dryer. Now it powers up and goes through its self test, and seems to partially work, but then the pump comes on and doesn't stop until the motor shuts off after a few minutes. The safety float appears to work if I activate it by hand. But the level sensor or its circuits appear to not work.

So yes this is water damage, but it was caused by failure of the velcro stick on, not by me. Can I make a warranty claim in that case? Otherwise can I return for repair or replacement?

Thanks,,Jim

If it fell in RO water and was cleaned promptly and dried, it may be salvageable, my guess would be it just needs to have the software rebooted if their is not visible damage to the board.

Please send it in-

Thanks Roger. The controller and attachments (minus the magnets) are in the mail. And yes it was distilled water that it fell into.
