Osmolator Malfunctions

Bought this product last september.

For some reason it does not seem to pump water into my sump consistently. The sensor recognizes the water is low but it fails to keep adding water until it back goes back to the "green lit light". I occasionally have to clean the sensor to get it to work. Sometimes it can be completely dry and it'll read "green light". I do understand that the pump does not go on for 5 minutes or longer continuously but why would it stop adding water. One day I purposely removed 1 gallon to see if it would replenish the one gallon, but it seemed that it only wanted to fill half of it. Am I doing something wrong is is the sensor bad. What can I do to get this to work the right way as I will be going on vacation in the next two months.

Try soaking the sensor in vinegar, if it has any mineral crust this will dissolve it, a film of salt or calcium will cause the behavior you describe. If it was the time out function, the display would switch to too low red light, not a green light. Soak it for 1hr, wipe it off with a soft towel and see if that fixes it. This typically has to be done every 6-12 months so if it has never been done, it is due for a cleaning of the sensor.
