Osmolator not working, why?

Hi I've had my osmolator working fine for a few years, no problems at all. I recently moved my tank and so had the unit disconnected for a day or two, upon plugging it back in I expected it to work fine but alas:

The water level was a bit low so I expected the pump to just raise the water to the correct level but as soon as I turn the unit on, the "Pump On" LED turns on, then a second later the "Level" LED turns on (it doesnt click straight onto being as bright as it used to, it seems to flicker on and gets brighter over a few seconds (like a halide bulb)).

At this point, the water level is still too low so "Level" shouldnt be displayed, and, the pump doesnt do anything, makes no noise at all. And then a few seconds later the "Level" LED turns off, but the "Too Low" LED doesnt come on in its place.

When I manually raise the water level, to the right level the green "Level" LED appears as it should do, and likewise when I lift up the float valve the unit makes the buzzing sound correctly.

So, I wonder what is going on? There is no way water could have been spilt on the main unit. At the moment I'm thinking/hoping it is the mains adaptor, do any of these symptoms sound like there could be something wrong with it?

Many thanks, and I hope the post makes sense!

If you have the old switchable power supply it may be set too low, it needs to be at 9-12V. Otherwise, I would agree the power supply could be failing.

Thanks for the quick response Roger! Knew I forgot to mention something in the first post! Yes I do have one of the old switchable ones, but sadly the problem persists even with it set to 12V. :(

Could there still be something wrong with it, or is it a case of if its set to 12V if there was a problem it wouldnt be working at all?

Thanks,

Jeff.

What you describe with the LED I have seen before and it had to do with the rectifier in the power supply failing so the output was AC and not DC, in the case I had, the LED's flickered.

Thanks Roger, I'll try and get my hands on a new power supply and see if that makes a difference. :)

Thanks again for replying so quickly!

Jeff.
