Osmolator overfills

I have an older Osmolator probably over 5 years old, lately it won't shut off. I removed it with the intention of sending it in, but I thought I would make absolutely sure it wasn't working properly. Seemed to work fine testing it on the counter. I placed it back in use, we had a power outage and after power came back on, it started overfilling again.

I noticed it doesn't seem sealed where the wire enters the top of the sensor, should it be? It's in the same location it's always been, so no splashing or bubbles.

I apologize my Friday reply apparently did not go through.

It is rare for an optic sensor to fail in the on position, it can happen but generally in a case like this I would suspect a source of bubbles or a dirty sensor that makes it easier for bubbles to stick to the surface.

It could be that the sensor has gotten weak with age, this is repairable, the sensors are about $29 to replace, just sent it in and we can repair it.

Thanks Roger! I have in reinstalled with the sensor placed in a different area in the sump, so far so good. If it gets stuck on again I'll send it in.

It doesn't hurt the sensor to be completely submerged for a short time, as in the case of a power outage or water change?

That won't hurt it.
