Osmolator problem

I bought and osmolator new about 8-9 months ago.
its been working flawlessly - finally I can go on vacation
without worrying about top offs. However, recently its
been giving me a little trouble - sometimes the optical sensor
wont detect a dropping water level. Splashing a little
water on it kicks it back into action and it correctly stops the
pump when the water level hits the sensor. Although it appears
clean, I cleaned it anyway to see if it would make a difference.
Its still having the same problem - any ideas?

I would double check that it is mounted in such a way that water is not sticking to it between the glass or holder and the sensor.

I'll take a look at it tonight and adjust the mount - see if that
makes a difference.
