Osmolator problem

I recently changed tanks and just set the osmolator with calcium dispenser back up. The unit was working perfectly before on my 55 sumpless and is now on a 40 breeder with sump. The problem is now when I plug it in the yellow light will come on and it will begin filling into the sump. A few minutes later, long before hitting the optical sensor, the pump will stop. The yellow light continues to stay on and the head unit gets quite hot. I am able get it to restart after unplugging it and waiting about 10 minutes before plugging it back in but the problem comes back a few minutes later. I have shaken all the bubbles back out of the pump before I started and the unit is plugged into my Reefkeeper 2. The unit only has to pump about 2 feet in height and the head unit has never been splashed with any water.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

The wiring or connector is likely corroded or the short head pressure is the culprit. The pump is basically drawing enough power to trip the internal thermal fuse (that is why it is getting hot). Higher head pressure lowers the power draw, so will clean connections with fresh wire. It is also possible the thermal fuse or pump is failing.
