Osmolator Pump Extension

I've been told the pump's power cord can be extend with speaker wire. I went to Home Depot and there are multiple sizes of speaker wire. I ended up with 18 gauge speaker wire, will this work?

Yes, it is overkill, 22gauge would work, but it is fine.
