osmolator pump sticks

My osmolator pump doesn't start sometimes. I have to reset the controller and yank on the hose or bump it on the bottom of the container to get it to start.
Is the pump shot or is there some maintenance I can do to it? It is a few years old.

Thaks,
Paul

It is very possible it is shot, we expect these pumps to last 2-3 years, I do rarely see 4-5 year old working pumps. It is a simple DC brush motor, the type you might buy at Radio Shack for a science project. The shaft extends through a seal and drives an impeller, over time the seal fails and water gets to the motor. I would replace the pump at this point.
