Osmolator question

Hey Roger,

I've got an Osmolator that's not running right. For a while now, I would come home to find the control unit blinking red, and the water level in my sump low, an I would top it off manually.

Finally, after a week or two of this, I finally got a replacement pump ordered.

Just tried hooking that up tonight, and now, the control unit only lights up green when the sensor is submerged or if my finger is pressing against it. When the sensor is out of the water, it doesn't change to yellow or blink red or anything else. Just green, and only when submerged or my finger is pressing against it.

Any idea what might be going on here? I had planned on soaking it in some vinegar, but this sounds like a loose connection or something to me...?

Thanks!
-Mike

How old is it? Is the optic sensor grey/green or black? It sounds like the optic sensor is going out.

It's probably around 2 years old. The sensor is black. How do I go about ordering a replacement? What do they run?

I think I saw that this will need to be soldered into the control unit, correct?

Yes, it must be soldered in. I would prefer it be sent in as there maybe other components that have to be changed to get it repaired.

Sending it in shouldn't be a problem. I saw on the tunze website that these have a 2 year warranty, so it's possible it would be covered. Should I try and get a copy of my receipt/order from Premium Aquatics, or can you tell by a serial date on the inside or something?

Also, where should I mail it, and are there any additional steps I need to take when mailing it?

Thanks,
-Mike

Osmolators typically sell quickly but they may be 2-3 months out of production by the time a dealer gets them due to shipping and delays between production and packaging. A receipt would be the best, if you have it. Either way i don't figure it would be expensive, the optic sensor is about a $30 part.
