I'm looking at an ATO, and will be moving RO from basement reservoir, about 8-10 feet of head. What sort of pressure/head does the osmolator pump have? Will it accomodate, or do I need to use a litermeter/peristaltic setup? Thanks!
There is the litermeter, and you could get a peristaltic pump (litermeter has one). High head, low pressure. They are not controlled by floats/optical sensors, but rate of flow. I like the tunze idea, but may have too much head.
Litermeter seem very nice and expensive. With dosing pumps, I think it works best if you live in climate where evaportation rate is close to constant. Where I live it's constantly hot and cold, it varies almost by the days. The reef can evaporate anywhere between 3g to 6g depending on outside condition.
Is it possible to use something like a maxi jet 1200 and attach it to the osmolator controller? Assuming it could cover the distance. Roger?
Yes, I don't think a Maxci Jet would be an improvement though over the pump it comes with but you can add a switched socket 3150.11 and run any pump up to 150W.
You cannot get the Osmolator without the pump but it is probably less than $10 of the cost on an Osmolator so it wouldn't make much difference. We do not sell to Canada, you would need to contact the distributor in Canada, their info can be found on Tunze.com.
