Osmolator questions.

I just purchased a used osmolator from another rc member and I had a couple of questions.

1. Where could I find an instruction manual to download?

2. The metering pump that comes with the unit seems to pump too quickly for my small system (10 gallons). Is it detrimental to the pump if I use a valve to slow down the output?

3. Has anyone tried to mount this in a nano cleaner 3165 (part of the nano reefpack 200)? Assuming the filtering material and bag was removed and it was only used to hold the sensors.

thanks,
Chuck

1)I can email you a manual if you rpovide an email address.
2)It should be OK though I expect it may reduce the pump life a bit. I have tried this using the flow adjusters they sell for drip irrigation systems and it works.
3)That was part of the original idea when I was working on the 3165, it could be done but as you said it makes using a filter media impossible, the only way it worked was with such a small amount of media it rendered the filter useless. It tends to magnify surface change and makes the osmolator more precise but it can also result in microbubbles because the filter box may run empty for a moment while the osmolator is being activated.

1. PM'ed e-mail address.

2. I can live with a little reduction in pump life. I'll order a spare pump just in case. I guess I was concerned the electronics in the pump would go nuts.

3. I'm more concerned with making the osmolator more precise as you mentioned. Will the magnet holder that comes with the reefpack 200 interfere with the osmolator?

thanks again,
Chuck

It may, there are areas where the magnetic field is diminished, I would test it with the float sensor on the far side away from the magnet and I think it would work, the float is magnetic and the part that is vulnerable to the interference, the optic sensor should be fine near the magnet. If you play around with it you will find areas where the magnetic field is weak and will not have any effect.

Hey Roger,

I got the manual, thanks.

After looking through it, it looks like the osmomat 5024 housing may also be an option. Is that housing still available? Do you know if that comes with the mounting clips within it?

thanks,
Chuck

The Osmomat hasn't been available for almost a year, I can't get the housing anymore.
