osmolator ?

I have always had a siphoning problem with my osmolator even with the replacement of the check valve and I had a couple questions.

First I had a 10g tank with the top off water and the kalk container and it was always back siphoning.

Then I bought a kalk reactor and was using a 5g bucket that sat on the floor next to it and it was back siphoning.

So I now have the top off container higher than the kalk reactor and i even replaced the check valve and now it is forward siphoning.

My question is I want to hard plumb a check valve in place but I will need to replace the tunze pump for a pump with a 1/2" outlet, then reduce it back to the tubing, what is the highest wattage pump that the controller can handle?

Thanks

Which kalk reactor are you using? If it is our calcium dispenser, it must be placed inside the reservoir, the end of the hose that pumps the top up water to the aquarium should be clamped on the aquarium so it does not touch the waters surface. If everything is installed properly, no siphon should be possible.

To replace the pump you would need the 3150.110 switched outlet and then you can use any 115V pump up to 150W.

Yes i had it clipped on the tank the problem i think is in the check valves. It just did not always close and a little of the kalk would siphon back into the reservoir when the pump turned off. I have always had that problem, have you found a better check valve to use with the application that the original ones and the basic ones I have bought at the LFS to replace it?

I would prefer to use the same pump but the check valve is not shutting off the water flow.

Is that part available at most of the online retailers?

So it is our 5074 Calcium Dispenser and not another brand of Kalk reactor? It absolutely must be installed inside the reservoir. The check valve is part of the 5074, the Osmolator on its own does not include one or require one. All the check valve does is keep kalk from flowing back into the bucket.

I used to use it with your calcium dispenser the way you described and I still had the problem of kalk getting in the top off container but I am now using it with a much larger kalk reactor from GEO b/c I upgraded tanks.

So if i take the check valve off of the osmolator it will stop letting water siphon from the top off container to the sump? My top off water is at a higher water level than the sump is the problem.

never mind i was able to just hook it up so that the outflow from the kalk reactor went back up to the overflow box so that it was not siphoning, hopefully the check valve keeps the kalk from back siphoning into the reservoir.
