How come everytime the unit turns off and on it starts to pump water in even though the green water level light is on? This makes no sense, and its rather erritating, because due to the 3-4 flickers of electrcitiy (storms in my area) the mecahnical float is now setting the buzzer off. Now I have to totally turn the unit off and wait until enough water evaporates to turn it back on.

It has to do with a delay in getting enough power through to the sensors etc. They offer rather small inexpensive battery backups if this is a constant concern in your area.
