Osmomat 5024

I have a 20 hex sumpless setup.. looking for a good evap system.. this Osmomat 5024 may be what I am looking for.

However, can you explain the 'surface suction system?' Without a sump, where is it sucking water too? I am confused.

Do I want this or the 3155?

Thanks in advance.

"The Osmomat 5024 is a supplement for conventional filter plants. It has a chamber with a water pump (300 l/h, 5 W) and a surface suction system, sensors and holding devices. A very precise water level regulation is ensured by means of the sensor chamber. The unit is especially well suited for the direct use in aquariums below horizontal glass edges (water level approx. 20 mm below the glass cover), for example. The holding device can also be used for Osmolator Universal 3155.

I small pump sucks the water over the top and pumps it out the bottom, this magnifies the surface change so it is more sensitive. The Osmomat is preferred for in tank use and it is in stock unlike the osmolator.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I have surface film.. this sounds perfect.

If I want to do the kalk thing, do I need the calcium reactor you guys sell too?

Without the calcium dispenser the pump life is shortened as Kalk destroys the seals. Many people choose to take that risk as the pump is $18.

Roger, does the Osmomat function effectively as a surface skimmer too, or is the volume pumped through the box too low for that?

Roger I am trying to order the Osmomat 5024 plus the calcium reactor from Cory at Premium Aquatics. I believe he sent you an email this week regarding it's availibility. FYI. I can't wait! :)
