OT 1999 honda civic si

I would seriously consider going with a newer base model civic. They aren't stolen as much, raced as much, etc meaning they will be way cheaper to insure and newer for about the same cost.

Insurance high? We had a 97 before we sold it and the insurance was around 60 a month. That was full coverage with a 100 dollar deductible with state farm. I think you guys need to shop around.

How old were you when you got your insurance though?

The Civic SI's along with integras of the same years are some of the most highly stolen cars because their engines are frequently used for swaps for older civics, etc. They are also among the most frequently raced cars, so in turn they can be very expensive to insure.

Well, we did have the over 26 rate or the married rate which I believe was the same.

Now my honda prelude is only about 70 a month for the same insurance. It is a year 2000 and has one of the most wanted engines to put in cars especially civics. I'm currently 30 years old now but I've had that car for 6 years with no major drop in insurance that I can think of either.

We had that before we were 26 and the insurance wasn't that much either and this was the EX model. If I recall, that year was also one of the highest stolen also.

Yeah there is a huge price difference in insurance between insuring a 26 year old married couple and a 17 year old male. Not to mention, he's looking at an SI which is more expensive to insure than any other model civic (which I assume yours was not an si since it was made in 97).

Dan, your insurance company may be able to give you good suggestions of cars that would be within your price range, reliable, and cheap to insure. If you really are interested in civics, i would call and get a quote for a newer model lx, or ex. They don't have the "wow" factor of the si, but they're great, reliable little cars.

I didn't realize he was 17. I believe 21 is a bigger drop. I would probably stay away from a SI unless you really plan on making the car really nice and upgrading it. Otherwise, I would just stick with a different car.
