With Capo being hard to find these days, I was wondering if we have any other A/C experts on here?

I have noticed my A/C seems to not be cooling quite so well. It also has some ice building up on the line going into the cooling coil.

I did just notice the damn filter was clogged, must have been a couple of months since I changed it. Well I will let it run without until I get home tomorrow.

But is there anyone that can come out and check it, and perhaps do a recharge? Where oh where has my Capo gone? Oh where oh where can he be?

It probablly is the filter. Don't run it without it because if your evaporater get dirty you will loose efficentcy. If you can't buy a new one right away then clean the one you got as good as you can. Some can be cleaned in the tub with water and some can be just blown out, but I wouldn't run your system without one.

BTW I not an expert yet but working on it. In my second year right now to my degree and still have alot to learn.

If it is icing over you definatly do not need a recharge.
There is such a thing as too much gas in your lines.

Change your filter Howie.

Not that this helps much but when the belt was slipping on our old unit, the whole A coil turned into a block of ice. It took a long time to thaw it out with just teh fan running. Check with Capo but it probably would be safest if you just shut it off till someone with a clue can check it. Having it cleaned and checked at least every few years never hurts. A good place will clean the outside unit and oil the fans (if needed) then pop the gages on it. SOme places offer clean and check coupons in the yellow pages.

I heard capo had another accident at the plant that involved a t-shirt and a plunger. He is to embarrassed to go out in public because of the smell. Looks like your SOL Howie...

Dirty filters or closed off supply grills will cause the coil to ice up also. If you have plenty of air flow then most likely it will be low on refer.

Another thing to check is your drain hose or pipe. If this becomes clogged the water(condensation) cant drain thus freezing the unit. -Steve

Looks like lack of air might be the issue. I took out he filter and things worked much better. I will pick some up today on my way home.

And I have to take issue Dennis....

Greg is the consumate pro when it comes to plungers! And he was never embarrassed by his odifurous self before...., so why now?

Besides the wife worked in a state hospital facility before, and I visited her there several times to take her to lunch, etc. We are quite used to the smell....

I made a post a month ago telling everyone to change their filters....what more can I do?

Spend and few bucks and save a bunch.........:D
