OT: A sad day

Many of you have been to my house and have met Angus, the big black furry dog. He loved having people visit and never missed a chance to bark at them if they didn't pet him enough.

Sadly, Angus, the Bestestest Belgian Sheepdog in the Whole Wide World, passed out of this world at 9:30am this morning, gently escorted by myself and his vet. The only thing left I could do for the pain in his old body was to take the pain of his passing onto myself.

Most of you don't know Angus except as a tired, old dog. Here is how I remember him:

Run, romp and roll in peace my dear friend.

I'm sorry for your loss. My wife and I are dog lovers as well. We have 3 of them and the thought of them leaving this world one day is heart breaking.

Nicole-
I am so sorry... I am sure Angus lived a wonderful life! My deepest
condolences! Dennis

Sorry for you loss....I know what you're going thru...we lost our long time family member, Buster, earlier this year....:(

i'm sorry to hear about angus, nicole. a couple of years ago i had to put my 17 year old chow down. man i miss her, it's hard to let them go.

Sorry to hear that Nicole. My brother just told me today that he's putting their 14+ year old dog to sleep b/c of health problems so she won't suffer anymore. I have lost one before when I was a little kid. This is why I won't have large animals as pets. You just get too attached to them.

I can't imagine your pain,I'm so sorry.Angus was very lucky to have someone that cares as much as you do and had the strength to do what was a necessity.

My condolences. Knowing you have broken down your tanks and breeding projects just so you can take better care of him shows that Angus means a lot to you. He must have been a very special friend.

Thank you, all, for these comments and the messages. It doesn't matter if you have them for a month or for decades, they always leave us too soon. I wouldn't trade the pain of losing him for never having had the joy of his love, though. Not at all.

He deserved everything I did for him in his old age and everything we couldn't do. It's so hard when you keep waiting for the vet to say, "oh, well, there's also this miracle drug..." If I can face my last years with the grace and strength and acceptance he did, I will be a better person than I am now.

Pink the Cat is failing, too. This is proving to be a hard month. I can barely stand to think about doing a 3g water change in my nano, thank heavens there's no big tank needing my attention.

sorry to here that! I had to do the same with my dog a few years ago and it was probably one of the toughest things I have ever had to do, its realy hard when their mind is all there and their body just wont cooperate! I was put of commission for about a week and still think about him all the time!!! best of luck

Sorry to hear that, but maybe you can give another dog a great home.
There are so many dogs in need of a good home.
I sometimes foster a dog from time to time for the Irvine animal shelter.

I just received a phone call from my brother that their dog passed away after coming home from her last walk around the neighborhood. It appears she just couldn't make it to the vet's visit tomorrow. Well, at least Angus and Peaches are in a better place now.

I have another dog, plus the geriatric cat. It's enough for now.

Oh wow, Kenny. I think everyone wishes their dog would just die naturally instead of having to make the long drive to the vet's office. It sucks arriving with a dog and leaving with a leash and collar. :( Please send my condolences. I hope Peaches liked walks -- it would be nice if the last thing she did gave her joy.

Wow sorry do hear this Nicole, but I am sure he is happy now. I know how it feels. We've lost three dog, two of old age and one by an accident. Its hard but I know the you did the best you could have done for Angus and for that he is thanking you.

Sorry to hear Nicole.

I have a 120lb dog here at home that Ive had since I was 15. He is now 3 years old and just with those 3 years If I were to loose him I dont know what Id do.

I cannot even imagine what you had to go through.

Sorry.

Sam
