Besides, reefing one of my other favorite hobby's has been guns. Just picked up a complete lower receiver and ready to do my first AR build. Thinking about doing a 16" M4 carbine style, with magpul ctr butstock, MOE pistol grip, and MOE hand guard with AFG. Any tips?

Hey, ya, I bought a full gun about 6 months back. So I don't know anything about modifying them or building. This one is a Rock River Tactical Operator II . I figured get one while I can vs. waiting and maybe too late. I bought about 100 magpul 30 rnd mags too, mainly as investment. Last time I bought Glock mags right before Clinton banned them in 94, they went from 16$ to $100 almost overnight.
I want to get a scope for the AR now, thinking Vortex Diamondback. $200 price and seems to hang with a much higher priced field of scopes..

When I built my m4 from scratch I used a mako butt stock it has an internal recoil spring you will love it. I was infantry when I was active duty so guns were always a hobby :)

You must have paid thru the nose at current prices.should have waited till the panic was over.

Price has come back down to 16$ a piece I believe.ouch
Actually AIM had them for 12,95 but sold out a few days ago.
And palmetto state armory just had a sale 10 for 99$

Ya, I watched 30rnd magpuls go up to $55, knowing the laws wouldn't pass and they'd go back down. I could have unloaded them when they were down to about $25, but figured some day they are going to get the laws through.. so just hold for long term investment. Better investment might have been Magpul stocks, (if they have stocks).

Things are a bit different here, in NY. I picked up a Seiga .223/5.56 a few months back. It's not all flashy like an AK, but it's semi auto and can be fitted with the pistol grip and all that plastic crap that makes it an **GASP** assault rifle, should I ever want to. Local laws limit me to a maximum 10 round clip, but more than 7 rounds in that clip is illegal in your house. At the range, it's fine to load 10 rounds.
I love my .223, it's accurate, comfortable, and the recoil is almost nothing. I much prefer shooting my .223 over my 12 Ga, but there is just no replacement for the sound of a pump shotgun being racked.

I'm currently building one. I have the MagPul ctr buttstock, spikes tactical stripped flat top upper, a stripped lower from a company out of PHX( forgot the name, got it at a gun show), DPMS lower parts kit, BCM gunfighter charging handle, MagPul backup sights (for now). I still need a bolt carrier group, free float quad rail, gas tube/block.

Where'd you get the spikes upper? That's the one I want run.

You guys got screwed,

spikestactical.com they have some awesome stuff. I will probably get the rest of my parts there once they start to have stuff in stock again...

Dang it, was hoping somebody local had them in stock. I've been eyeing spikes website and they have a 6-8 month lead time right now.

At the last PROP auction one of the guys there that was bidding and winning almost everything was Darren, who owns Edward Arms Co. He does a lot of customer work if you want to check out some one local.

Here are a few he did. (I do realize there will be some bashing on AR15s that are not black)

Shortbarrel at the top, and Uzi below.

Those are some crazy looking AR's, I bet just the handguard on the short barrel one cost more than I plan on putting into my whole build.
