Just responded to my first live fire. Property loss minimal. No loss of life. feel incredible. Just wanted to share.

I am also a volunteer. I do interior ff and also drive ambulance on tuesdays from 6am to 6pm. It's a great thing you are doing keep it up.

I jokingly call my firefighter buddies "cellar savers" lol. I could only imagine what a rush it would be to run inside a burning house.

although it is exciting it is nothing like on TV, most of the time you are crawling on hands and knees and can't see your hand in front of your face. I have never had the displeasure of finding a person in a fire I have had to carry out many pets and thats No fun

I am also a volunteer firefighter/rescue tech (vehicle rescue). I was an active member for 25 years most of those as a interior attack ff. I have done many search and rescues but thankfully never found a body either. I've been with the department for a total of 36 years but currently inactive. I also drove ambulance. A separate organization from fire department tho. I was pretty busy between the two in my day.

Have 2 stepsons with FDNY - 1 in the Bronx, the other in Washington Heights. Both see their fair share of action.

Volunteer FF, former EMT here. Currently inactive due to a political mess here in Brighton, NY. Maybe one day soon we will be protecting our neighbors again.
