OT: Any HVAC members?

I replaced the filters in my furnace and now the darn thing will not put out any heat, there is no gas even going into the burners. The fan is blowing. Its an Amana 80SSE and I am unable to find a user manual online. I have had problems with this thing for the past two years and I suspect my controller is part of the problem. It may also be in a 3 hour lockdown according to some reports I read online. I will see how cold the house is in the morning. Snd me a PM if you are in the business and would like to help me out.

Could be the thermocoupler. That's the cheapest thing to replace first. Can you at least light the pilot?

There is no pilot. Its all automatic. Seems to have gone into protected mode and I can not get it to reset. I have a tech thats on the way. Thanks goodness I have electric heaters for emergencies.

Could be the limit switch, the unit could be operating in safe mode. Try to remove the filters and clean the intake on the return vent. If the unit doesnt sense enoguth air coming into the unit, it will not allow gas to flow into the heat exhcanger.

Question, doe you have a viewing port on the unit with an LED indicator located behind. It may be listed on the actual board of the unit.

Also, on the back of the access panel for the unit should be a guide telling you what the LED flashes indicates

was a limit switch that tripped when i opened the system to change the filters.

It was a thremal switch. i did not wait long enough after the furnace had turned off and it detected a buildup of heat. that generally indicates a blocked vent to the outside so it shuts off the flow of gas to the system. I could not find the reset and had to have a service tech come out and show me.

D.G. Next time I will call. I just could not wait any longer and had to make a call this morning. the electric heater works ok downstairs, but the whole house was begining to get a little too cold for comfort.
