OT--any Mac mini users?

Do any of you have a Apple Mac mini? You like it? I am considering getting one soon, but have never used Mac. Where's the cheapest place to score one?
 
I use a mac mini and its pretty sweet. What's making you look at the mini and going mac? The reason I ask is cause I think it might be a better purchase to by a macbook. After you get a monitor, keyboard, mouse...its almost the same price... When your ready to buy let me know...
 
I use the mac mini for some of our clients to view remote color. I am really happy with the performance and the price.

The cheapest place to score one is the apple store. There really is not any deals out there unless you buy it used.

I've read that apple is phasing out the mac mini, so you better get one soon. I get a slight discount at the apple store. its not much, but pm me if you want to know the price.
 
I have a mac mini (as well as many other macs) at my office. The mini does a very good job for the price. I purchase all my mac equipment from the Apple Store at Chandler Fashion Mall. I think you can get their "education" discount if you work for a school district or university.

can't I just use my current monitor/keyboard etc? That is one of the reasons I want a Mac mini, because I have a super nice 19" LCD monitor! I thought the mac mini is basically plug and play.
 
It really is a plug and play setup. If you've got all the peripherals then you're setup.

Side note - These work great to tote over to the TV and setup for movies and TV shows you may have downloaded or what not.

I would call the apple store and make sure that the monitor will plug directly into the mac mini without an adapter. If your keybord is usb it will probably work. But you will not have some of the key functions the mac keybord has.
 
They do, also, keep in mind that you can always get the DVI converter if needed. You're monitor should support both DVI and VGA if its a newer model. Either way, you should be set with very minimal purchases if you go the route of a Mac Mini.

I called Best Buy, and of course the only store that has macs is the chandler store, and the only mac they don't carry is the mac mini. See how my life is?
 
Hey Evil - there is a Mac store at that new mall in Gilbert, San Tan is it called? Just off the 202 & Williams Field. Discounts on Apple are rare and retailers aren't supposed to discount prices. Be careful though, on more than one occasion I went to the Mac store for something small like a case for my phone, then went to Gordon Biersch next door - threw back a couple, then went back to go spend more money. :lol: I'm easy. Next time I might try to throw down 3 or 4 and get enough nerve to go buy one of those "Air" laptops!
 
You could always look for used systems. Depending on your rush, you could pick up an eBay system and save further. But, the Mac stores are always nice to be in. I have 2 mac laptops and 2 iMac systems at my home and countless accessories.
