LMAO... your statement might be correct.

But there are worse things that one could be addicted to... like crystal meth, heroin, etc. etc. ;)

Actually, my wife is very cool about all of my other "addictions", and doesn't give me much grief about them... not to mention some of the "addictions" are shared between the two of us... other than the video game addiction, of course.

But for the record, she is REALLY REALLY good at games like Guitar Hero and Mortal Kombat!

latest update on the format war...

HD DVD camp issues sad little response to Netflix, Best Buy snubs

Out of the many jobs in today's multi-billion dollar consumer electronics industry, the one we'd probably want least right now is writer of press releases for the HD DVD Promotional Group. After each major defection, these poor folks have to whip up a positive-sounding response to what everyone knows is very bad news -- but after yesterday's one-two punches by Netflix and Best Buy, even these paid cheerleaders are having trouble finding the right spin. Here's what they had to say, as reported by CNET:

"We have long held the belief that HD DVD is the best format for consumers based on quality and value, and with more than 1 million HD DVD players on the market, it's unfortunate to see Netflix make the decision to only stock Blu-ray titles going forward. While the Best Buy announcement says they will recommend Blu-ray, at least they will continue to carry HD DVD and offer consumers a choice at retail."

Doesn't sound like there's too much fight left there, does it? If the best you can do to support your dying format is to rehash the same canned argument and celebrate your remaining shelf space, well, there would seem to be a bigger problem than you're willing to admit. At this point, we're just curious to see how it will all end: after investing so much time, energy, money, and vitriol on this bitter format war, how does Toshiba move forward in a world almost completely dominated by its rival in blue?

For those reading this who are on Xbox Live, there's a new Arcade game available for download - and it's called Poker Smash.

It's a really really really fun and fast paced game that kind of feels like a mixture of one part poker/one part Tetris.

A more detailed explanation of the game can be found here:

Hey tony, I finished my game of Resistance yesterday... what a phenomenal fricken ending, if I do say so myself! Things are definitely left open for the possibility of a sequel... which I have been hearing rumors that one will be released sometime in the near future.

Should I find out from EB Games/GameStop how much this game is getting in trade value... that is, if you're still interested in buying it?

I'll say for the record that my copy of the game is in mint condition... people at EB Games/GameStop should be so lucky to buy one of my used games! ;)

It's nice to see people that actually take care of their stuff...
and
YES
let me know ;)

No problem... I'll find out what they're giving people for trade-in credit on copies of Resistance: Fall of Man after I get back home Sunday afternoon.

I'll post my findings in here once I get that information from them... thanks for the response!

yup.....

feel sorry for these guys

"Microsoft's Xbox 360 game machine can play HD DVD movies, but the drive had to be bought separately, and Nishida said about 300,000 people have those. "

Which is exactly why I wouldn't spend $199 on an attachable movie player drive.

I think I've said this before, but ya, I just don't buy a Video Game system to be a movie player. Maybe it's just me, but I just don't. I buy these systems to play video games. The PS3 would be the only consideration I would give to the matter, and that's only because Blu Ray players still hover around $400, and that's what you can get the PS3 for. Being that I still prefer games on the Xbox, if I wanted a Blu Ray player, I would just buy a PS3, figuring that I can watch movies on that, and play the random game that comes out for it that wouldn't come out for the 360.

Ya, it does suck to be owners of the HD DVD drive though.

+1 FTW!

But to me, getting a PS3 would be like having the best of both worlds... on one hand, I can play (better) upcoming PS3 games. Then on the other, I can watch blu-ray movies on the system... sweet!

Now excuse me while I go fire up the PS3... if I won't be playing a game, then I'll be looking at my wallpaper, or watching a movie...

I picked up a copy of The Club yesterday, and I was really impressed after playing it for a short time. I had a feeling that it would be good, but not nearly as good as it actually is... now that I am (finally) playing the final version of the game. It's a big improvement over the demo that I have been playing non-stop, ever since it was first released for download on both the 360 and PS3.

(The game has a Fight Club sort of vibe, with the only exception being the game has an arseload of guns and grenades.)

It's also been getting really good reviews from almost any video game publication that I have read the past week or two.

So, for those people that are on my XBL friend list, you will probably be seeing me playing a lot of this game. It's a blast!!! Hell, if some people at work buy it for their PS3, I might just have to go and get a copy of the game on that system...

I think Blu-Ray is going to end up like Beta did back in the 80's.

DOH! :P

LATEST NEWS...

BioShock Confirmed for PS3
Would you kindly believe the rumors now?
By Michael Donahoe, 05/22/2008

Cue the I-told-you-so's -- the everlasting rumor about last year's Xbox 360 hit BioShock popping up on the PS3 turns out to be true. According to the July issue of EGM, publisher 2K Games has confirmed that the underwater shooter is making the transition to Sony's shores.
Still don't believe us? Well, if you catch yourself a copy of the July issue (hitting subscribers as we speak, and on newsstands on June 3), you'll get the full scoop on how the Xbox 360's underwater shooter is making the transition to Sony's shores (including some potential graphical improvements) in time for the 2008 holiday season.

Along with a chat with BioShock's new creative director Jordan Thomas (taking over the sunken series from creator Ken Levine), EGM has the first screens and info, including some fishy details about the future of Rapture.

Maybe....(point being it was a MS exclusive) but just goes to show everything is moving to the better system ;)

I heard bungee left microsoft???? Could HALO be next??? ;)
