I ride alot and there is not many places around st louis to ride but there is a lot of places just as close but a lot more fun than st joes.

What kind of riding do you do and what type of atv and i can make some more suggestions

St. Joe is the best close place for a variety of riding. Been there a lot lately and its getting rougher on the trails from washing out.
Washita is a track/trails that fairly close around farmington.
There is some tracks in illinois but most require memberships. Suttons bluff and chadwick also but those are 2-3hrs away. If you find something good close let us know I am always looking and started riding some dual sport to look for new areas and trails on my 450x. Have a 450r atv,but most tracks dont allow atv's anymore.

I ride a wolverine just starting out really ...my buddy that rides with me rides banshees and does mainly trails and sand drags....

Most tracks are going to dirt bikes only.

There is a nice place in fulton. Not near as big as st joes but there is a nice track and some trails. I havent been back in the trails much as i ride a ltr450 but everyone I've talked to loves it. Camping is included in the price of riding. There are plenty of lakes. Also not as packed as st joes.

Also I rode Coulterville. Its not a big place but is kinda fun too. Small track and a lot of trails.

And then there is the little spots around NO CO pm me if interested. Prolly 20 mins from Maryland Heights.

",but most tracks dont allow atv's anymore."

Whats the difference?
atv's cause a lot more damage to the tracks and can really tear it up leaving 2 deep wide ruts especially on wetter tracks. Years ago there was an awesome track called cycle world out in hawks point Mo. I raced at a few times but i beleive has been closed for 5-6 years. was 1.5 mile track and was almost always open for practice. Alot of tracks are never open to ride or you have to be a member to ride once a month or something similar.

there is a spot. trails with a couple table tops and hill climbs. Its a good time. Pm me for details.

I have been to the place in fulton it is pretty cool.... I like st joe.... just to lazy for the drive every weekend :) anyone know why you cant take side by sides or small sand rails in the trail of st joe alot of them are no bigger than the wolverine that i ride

There is a place called splinter creek in illinois you guys can look up i rode dirtbikes there but i'm pretty sure you can take atv's too

Joe, they tear it up to much and get in the way on the small trails. Also alot of narrow spots they wouldnt fit and getting them out in some spots is almost impossible. People still take them back there, especially side by sides. I had a buddy break a dune buggy back in the trails and it took 6 hrs to get him out and it wasnt that far back in there, so that can be a big problem.

Here in Southern IL there are a ton places to ride if you don't mind getting chased :D I ride Colterville quite a bit lots of trails. I work with a lady that rides and camps at St Joes all the time, but the way gas prices are going driving 2 hrs to ride kinda sucks i have been wanting to go might make the trip sometime. I ride a 04 yzf450. Heres a pic with my hoodlums on it.

The side by sides arent bad on the trails but the buggies make a huge problem on the trails. I have had my buggy and truck on the trails and wenever some one comes the other way it just turns into a cluster.
