OT-Belize

Has anyone ever been to Belize? I'm thinking of planning a vacation for Jess and I next year.

I visted Belize about five years ago and I have to say it is by far my favorite place of all the Carib islands. The Belize city is very crazy. The city was unplanned, I think. The streets and building are very strange. My taxi drivered pulled over at a green light and told me to go take a picture of it. Found out it was one of two street lights in the country.

The reefs are pretty good, I think much better and than Maxican or caymen locations. Maybe because of less traffic. The flowers and plants there are very nice, I suggest doing the jungle tours. The one bad thing was we were tricked to go to a "private" diving site and beach. Turned out to be a huge waste of time. The Cucumber beach was pretty good. I loved the .75 cent beer.

Been to Belize before for work at the Coca-Cola plant. The have some really bad areas you won't want to go in after dark. I didn't get to do any snorkeling but drove to the jungle to check out the Mayan Ruins. You can buy some really nice hand carved souveniers for real cheap. Their dollar is worth 50 cents American. The roads are trecharous and people drive insane but i'd go back again given the chance. The beer is pretty good, and if you go when conch is in season get some conch salad.

Never been to Belize just Freeport but just as a heads up +++ with what Henry said about areas after dark, some parts anyway. Learned first hand ,tell ya about some other time when I see ya.
