Ot: big screen tv's

floridareefs, is this the company you sold your tv too?

Jax Telefix
1225 W Beaver St
Jacksonville, FL 32204
(904) 354-1607

When I try and call the number it just says call not allowed.

We are trying to find someone to sell the thing to so we can get it out of our house and get some money out of it?

If anyone wants to buy it, make me an offer, I won't sell it for much since it needs a $400 repair.

its a mitsubishi 52 inch dlp hd. Its the 628 series.

i guess your tv was that much because its the 1080p instead of the 1080i. If its really the 1080p you got one hell of a deal because the cheapest I can find it is $2,465.00...

yup 1080p, you definatley want that. I have a guy that I have been buying home theater stuff from at sound advice for a long time:) progressive is notched above interlaced. And yes that was Jax telefix on Beaverstreet. Beleive me, they were not no walk in the park to deal with. I think you have the right idea to sell it to the general public at a severally reduced price..

right now, is there anything that displays 1080p other than bluray which isn't out yet? I don't think hddvd does, directv doesn't, comcast doesn't, dish network doesn't, the local stations don't. I know its probably going to be the standard in the future but if things keep going as slow as they are, i think a now a days 1080p TV will be outdated by the time 1080p is popular. Its things like there was component, then dvi was supposed to be popular which it never became, and now there is hdmi which seems to be getting popular. The toshiba we got only does 1080i but I think for now I rather save $700-800 and just get the 1080i and maybe 5-10 years down the road get 1080p if that is the standard then. Btw comcast doesn't broadcast much even in 1080i, most things are in 720p although their cableboxes do upconvert it to 1080i if you set it to. Honestly I can't tell a difference between the two. I bet your TV is damn nice though! I do wish I had the money to get a 1080p tv right now but this was kind of an expense I for sure didn't see coming. ;)

Well I had the oppurtunity to view both the 1080i and the 1080p on my freinds direct tv getup and the 1080p was much more crisp. I dont know haw it exactly works, bueut seeing is beleiving. I have the progressive scan Pioneer elite dvd player and the movies rock! Im running all bouston acoustics surrounds with custom ceiling horns. I have the yamaha r7 receiver and velodyne subwoofer. HA! no need for me to go to the movie theater, mines better:D

I actually go outside alot, Workout everyday and ran the river run this year. Oh and I like my motorcycle. Its a he with the most toys thing:D

Do you guys ever go outside?

Benni judging by your avatar, you may need ot get outside more:D

Were you actually watching something that was being broadcast in 1080p? The best directv reciever does this, "Selectable output format (1080i, 720p or 480p/i) is compatible with any TV."
The only thing I can think of is that your TV upconverts it to 1080p kinda like the upconversion dvds players do. They upconvert 480p to 1080i or 720p.

Since you have a 1080p tv you better make sure you get a blu ray player and not an hddvd player since blu ray is the only thing that does 1080p.

"With HD DVD media, the HD-A1 outputs true 1080i or 720p high-definition video."

"With Sony's BDP-S1 Blu-ray Disc player, you'll get resolution up to 1080p."

Well I have my sound advice contact looking to get me the new Pioneer Elite bdp-hd1 which will be kicked up capatible.

Isn't that player like $1000? I think ill be waiting till the $300 ones come out before I get one. Im def getting bluray over hddvd.

yeah its about $1300, and yes I will wait tila great deal comes along. This full sysytem stuff keeps me from getting a large tank:D

Great place to find some really nice audio equipment is audiogon.com . It's all high end techy stuff.... but the folks who handle that kind of equipment take care of it.

Go for the new big screen DLP or LCD you will not be sorry. Oh, and Robs right buy the Video Essentials DVD It will help improve your picture. And the Denon is better than the Yamaha but I have a Yamaha 1000 for 6 years now and have been very happy with it.

sorry to jump in your guys thread...I just wanted to say, I would be cautious about jumping into the Blu-Ray bandwagon just yet. Anyone remember Betamax or minidisc? Sony has a long history of coming up with media formats that flop. I personally would not believe the 1080p speculation until i see it. Sony has been known to overhype the new product.

The reason i think HD-DVD will win the war is the fact that Blu-Ray technology is so rediculously expensive. And it will be Sony exclusive. There are several manufacturers going w/ the HD DVD format, and it will be much cheaper. It seems like Sony would have learned their lesson by know.

Betamax was actually superior to VHS, yet it failed miserably.

I am going to hold off to see which technology wins the war. I have a feeling it is going to be HD-DVD.

I have been burned a few times by Sony's latest greatest media technology...Anyone wanna buy a Minidisc player?

Pat agree with most, Denon better than a Yamaha Receiver, I don't agree with that. Yes they both make $6k receivers, but my Yamaha rxz1 will match up well or better then a comparable Denon.

if you think bluray will flop, then you must think ps3 will flop. For bluray to fail ps3 has to fail. Every single company supports bluray except for HP. Even microsoft supports it but they also support hddvd. Sonys technology is more expensive because it is alot better. Every single thing is better about bluray over hddvd. The cheapest hddvd player out right now costs around $400-500, the only bluray players are Samsung, pioneer, and sonys and they are $1000 but there is also the ps3 that will play bluray and it is supposed to be $400-500. Also the $1000 players are top of the line stuff, like if you look at the pioneer, its listed in their "elite" stuff. No one has announced their bottom tier stuff yet.
