OT - Bridal Veil falls in Yosemite

Sweet! You got some great shots there. I visited a couple weeks ago and I was groaning... there was new snow from the night before and beautiful (really really beautiful) light but I was with my brother and his kids and couldn't bail out to take pictures. I did make em pull over a couple times :p

This is only a hobby for me Greg so I get a little more leeway. The family also knows that I'm making the trip for the pictures. They can either go along knowing that or stay home. ;)

Here's a couple more of the very beginning of the Dogwood bloom:

It's still a 3.5 hour drive. My yard looks nothing like that. ;)

 It would be a very long drive for me to get pictures of any of that!

Maybe the waterfalls would be a stretch but there are certainly flowers in Wisconsin; once the snow melts. ;)

The detail in the rocks was great, even with the 1.4 TC. That settles it, I'm ordering one right now.

Keep in mind that shot was on a really good tripod with mirror lock-up enabled. But yeah, it's a great bang for the buck lens.

You've out-done yourself yet again beerguy. I absolutely love the rainbow shot. I would be curious to know how you expose for such a shot considering the sometimes faintness of color with rainbows. I've only ever attempted it once and failed miserably.

Thanks VR.

The rainbow shot was ISO 100, f/11 @ 1/60th with a focal length of 70mm

A circular polarizer, correctly adjusted, makes all the difference in the world.

Gitzo baby!

I think that my tripod/ballhead/QR system cost more than my camera body. :D

So are you saying it's not the camera, it's the tripod?!? ;)

I stole my husband's tripod from his lazer level! Shhh! Don't tell him!

I have to assume carbon fiber?

Yeah. When I'm out shooting there is generally hiking involved and all of my gear is on my back. Weight is weight.

Which is why my wife gets to carry my tripod when we hike :D It's not that much weight (Bogen 3001Pro/4889RC2 head) but isn't that bad to carry, plus it fits in carry-on luggage.
