OT: Building a PC

Cagdas,

Thanks for your help. I will try that tomorrow and will keep you update.

This PC is for my son's school work and game so no LAN for him.

Have a good night!

Yes School work :) with SLI and two e Geforce 9600 GT SSC he can search all the 3D libraries much faster. Any way i found an other similar problem caused by the memory voltages. So you might try that too

Good night and keep me updated PM might work as posting here keeps bumping my FS post down :)

did you try plugging the monitor directly into the video jack on the mother board?

remove the after market video card..

the default for the bios is to use the onboard video...

after you setup with the onboard video you canchange the bios to use the aftermarket board...

good luck

Take everything out the computer case only connect the power supply, video card, CPU, monitor, keyboard, & memory. Then power it on. If nothing happens then..

#1 Take out the memory and turn on system. If it beeps then the motherboard "should be" okay. If it doesn't beep with no memory inserted then the motherboard is defective.
Next turn on the system with 1 stick of memory at a time. Defective memory will cause the system to power on with no video. If you are using overclocked memory make sure your motherboard default memory voltage is the same as the memory you are using. Or else you will have to find one that's in the voltage range to get into BIOS to set voltage.

#2 Take out CPU and look at the pins on the motherboard to see if any are bent out of place. It should be very noticeable a pin is bent.

#3 When you turn on the system.. Look at your keyboard light to see if it is powering on after a couple seconds. If it is then maybe your video card is defective. Try the card in another computer to see if it works.

Ok, here is the update

Smooth Sailor, the mobo does not have an integrated video card.

I took Teknagen advice and took out all of the RAM, no beeps at all. May be the mobo is defective. Is there another way to confirm this?

I have checked the CPU, it seems to be fine.

And, yes the keyboard is lighted up for a second once the pc is powered on. I also tried another grand new video card and it still gots no signals.

If there is a way to check and make sure that the motherboard is defective, let me know.

Thanks all for your help!

On a MSI board I can't think of any other way to confirm the board is bad other then the no memory test. The only way to confirm board is bad is to test parts on another system. If you have time drive to Fry's a buy another motherboard to test out your equipment. Make sure its unopened box. If it works then that confirms your motherboard is bad. Return the bad board then return the one from Frys ;)

At work when I encounter the no beeps with no memory.. I just give motherboard it to the RMA dept. It's pain in the *** to test 8+ sticks then swapping dual cpu around. Building computer is easy.. figuring out whats wrong with it is the challenge.
