my subwoofer amp stopped turning on and I think that the fuse on the battery line is blown. Anyone know where I can get another 100 amp fuse like it? any help is appreciated because i know absolutely nothing about this stuff

You might be able to get it at discount auto parts or autozone.. I think I had to go with a 60A because they didnt have 100A..

No.. You don't need a 100A fuse unless you have a beast system. Depending on your watts.

To play it safe, if you can't get a 100A I would go for the next biggest one.

You can go to a car audio shop and get a replacement (like JR Audio on bird rd)
Question you have to ask yourself is what tripped the fuse. A 100 amp fuse is not easily blown. If it is the fuse, dont just replace it without looking into it first.
Get ahold of a multimeter or at least a continuity tester and verify its the fuse before you buy anything. If you dont have one rig some wire with a 12v light one wire to the amp side of the fuse and the other to ground. Maybe its not the fuse but a faulty remote wire that sends signal that tells the amp to power on.

Good Luck

Any sound system shop will have those fuses available. If not hit me up and I can take a look at your car. I'm a certified tech and have experience with sound systems. Once I had an issue where the actual power cable created so much resistance that it would pop its battery fuse. Cheap cables can go bad over time.

if your amp is all that's connected to the power wire with the blown fuse, look at the fuse or fuses on the amp, all you need for the power wire is the same as what the amp has, some amps have the fuses doubled up, if it has two 20a fuses, you will need a 40a fuse for your power wire, or if it has two 40a fuses you will need an 80a fuse for the power wire and so on...

if you need a 100a fuse and you play music loud enough to blow it, you're gonna need hearing aids soon too...and yes, I am getting old LOL

you guys are too much! thanks for all the advice. it was the fuse. put a new one in (60A was all they had) and everything's back to normal. I really have to educate myself on this sort of stuff

EEEEEEEEEEEEEH! Wrong answer. If there's a short somewhere it can burn out any electrical unit tied to that cicuit.

+1

It could of also been from fluctuating current coming of your alternator. Maybe the voltage regulator is taking a dump.

Have it checked by someone who knows because it could ultimately be anything. A loose connection, oxidized cables, alternator going bad... there are many different possibilities. GL!

that must be one hell of a sound system! 100 amp fuse? just use a nail for a replacement! lol

not even your oven or house ac uses a 100 amp fuse!

I replaced my 100A fuse with 60A and have had no problems for a year.. I blast it when I want.

That's my experience. I did all the wiring myself as well.

The short was located and dealt with... faulty speaker has been disconnected. Granted I have one less speaker in the back but i cant notice a difference with the sub blasting hahaha

It's very common for a 100amp fuse under the hood. We install high end car audio all day long. If you see those car amps that say 3000 watts and have a 30 watt fuse on it stay away lol any time you need car audio stuff pm me. Will guide you the right way. If you want a custom install. The guys here a named in the top 100 in North America for 2 years running.
