One of the girls I share an office with is looking for help filling out a survey in order to finish up her dissertation here at Vanderbilt. She's been having trouble getting parents to respond, so I thought I would help her by throwing a link to the survey up on here. If you have a little extra time, I'm sure she would appreciate it.
Here's the official, IRB approved, invite:
Hello parents!
My name is Christa Green. I am a graduate student at Vanderbilt
University. I am currently working on my dissertation. My
dissertation is about parent's home-based involvement in their
child's education. I am asking home- and public school parents and
their 4th - 7th grade students (or children ages 8 - 13 years old)
to fill out an on-line survey about their involvement and their
beliefs about their children's learning strategies.
If you would like to participate, I ask that you go to this website
to fill out the survey:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=486213105529
The survey should take about 30 minutes for you to complete, and
another 10 minutes for your child to complete. All responses will
be completely confidential. I also ask that I be allowed to email
you in 6 months to fill out the same survey again. Your email
address will also be kept confidential.
If you know of anyone else who would like to take this survey,
please feel free to forward this letter to them, or send them a
