OT: Driving in Florida

So I am driving across I-10 in Florida when out of nowhere the truck starts rattling with the unmistakable sound of a jet engine...first thoughts are of a large airliner dropping from the sky. I franticly look out the windows to see what is going on when I notice a Private jet sized aircraft about 150 feet over the interstate. My new thought process is that it’s making an emergency landing because no one in their right mind would be flying that low. I hit the brakes to slow down and instinctively check my mirrors when an air force jet appears in my side view mirror dropping from the sky to about the same level as the other jet. New thought process, maybe its terrorists trying to escape the onslaught of our air force. This jet fly’s over at what seems to be 500 or so miles an hour about 100 foot above the median of the interstate. As it fly’s in front of me I notice the same silhouette as the previous jet and realize there are some Air Force guys having some fun with the civilian drivers. All of this happened in a matter of seconds. I had to stop at the next rest area because I was shaking from the initial horror of a crashing aircraft around my truck. Thinking back it was an awesome sight that will probably never happen to me again. And I need to identify what kind of jets they were, none that I can remember seeing. About the size of a mid sized Learjet with twin engines, one hanging underneath each wing.

That looked pretty close but the planes were not that large. It happened so fast it was hard to tell but definately not a small fighter plane.

I am sure someone called the AirForce or Navy about that flyby and in the old military someone would loose some stripes.

Sounds like somebody needs to loose some stipes over that "incident". you said yourself you were shakey after the fact. What if you were more of a wimp, freaked out and crashed the car all because a couple flyboys thought they would have some fun. That seems extremely careless and stupid. not to mention our armed forces have a reputation and image to uphold, theres enough baddies in the world for them to scare without haveing to scare the very people they are "hired" to protect.

What if you were more of a wimp....

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I know you what you meant and you meant it in the best possible way, but depending on how you read it, it's VERY funny. Prater, you should kick Adam in the shin for that one ;)

After I read this thread, I took a visit to the Lounge and this is the first thread I opened. It sounds like you fit right in. Very funny
When it's OK to say the "F" word

LOL, Travis,

I'm so sorry , I guess I should have re-read that statement first. Ididn't mean you're already a wimp.....(maybe just a little bit, lol)

Prater, maybe they thought that trailer behind you was the landing strip. You are driving a small train there lol.

You should be here when they shell the bombing range in the Ocala forest lol. The range is only about 15 miles north of me, and they sit off the coast with ships and lob shells at it all day long sometimes lol. Only once or twice a year, but that first couple of shells will make you stop and listen to your surroundings pretty quick.

If I hear shells lobbed only 15 miles away from me, I might actually poop myself. You all should have been around the fist Saturday I spent in okalhoma a few years back. Noon time hit and those sirens went off, I totally freaked!!!

It might be the trainer type they are using here is stillwater.

They look very simular to a leere type jet, but are painted the AirForce color. Strainge to see to say the least.

Adam, wait until you are asleep at 3am, and those sirens go off by mistake lol. In 2003 they had an issue with the sirens going off like that. I woke up and came flying out of bed, turned on the news, and nothing was being reported lol. It happened 2 or 3 times in about a month. Talk about pooping yourself lol. It was even during storm season.

May possibly be the falcon trainers they have, or lear's. The only thing that confused me was the engines under the wings. Those are mostly reserved for the larger aircraft.
