Just to let everyone know, if they havn't seen it yet, but they have the first filmed footage of the gaint squid and i believe it's playing on saturday around 8pm EST on discovery Channel. Hopfully it's as intresting as the documentary on the Humbug squid in the sea of cortez.

I <3 Sharkweek!

TIVO. right now you can get one for free at circuit city..
pay for it now and then they have a mail in rebate for the full purchase price. i already have a few but its a killer deal. cant argue the price thats for sure. nothing beats free

We paid one price for it up front, and never pay again: we just bought our unit and its lifetime service---and being able to back up to see a disputed baseball call, or back up when the phone rings in the middle of the special you've anticipated for weeks---priceless. You can also set it to always record a particular program. If I had to choose between TIVO and any vcr or dvd player, I'd go for TIVO.

Cable services also offer it as a dvr option, but I prefer the original tivo...can't remember the cost, but it wasn't that huge.

The per month charge is something like 12.50. The 3 year is 299 or thereabouts, which is a savings.
When you consider how much tv you're paying cable charges for floats past at hours you can't take advantage of it, it's a really valuable thing.
PLUS, if you get a dvd recorder [I know: more finance] and feed a line from the tivo to the recorder, you can do a permanent dvd, eliminating commercials, of your fave specials, etc.

Ours is a dvr (digital video recorder). We rent it for $6.25 a month from Bright House, and can record something like 50 hours worth of stuff. My kids have their favorite shows on it, and I tape all my geeky science stuff on it. Sometimes we copy it onto dvd, sometimes we just erase.

My husband has it set to tape some wacko sci-fi thing late at night automatically for every episode, and we LOVE it for the football games. We can do the replays faster and better than most of the refs!

it does not include any tivo service.

but its only 12 bucks per month. pay it month by month via direct withdraw and you wont even notice such a small amount each month. i find that tivo is ALOT better then the cable service DVR boxes. better features and alot more storage space.

we have ours connected to the computer and can tranfers thigns like tv shows and pictures back and forth. i can even set thigns to records on it when i'm away from any computer. gotta love tivo
