Hope you guys out there in those nether regions are making out ok....thanks for sending all the smoke my way......
Smoke plume looked like a 2mtonne abomb earlier

The fire is in foothills above La Canada. Thru the course of the day, the plume look like it was spreading. Needless to say, the air quality has sucked the last couple days.

The fire is now coming down the mountain. Although it looks like the fire dept has the fire under control.

Don't wash your cars this weekend guys... Gotta feel bad for all the firefighters running around in the 100+ deg heat... Whew! Glad I work inside right about now.

All the fires are still out of controll at this time and the cause is still under Investigation and will be released asap it is a huge pain to figure out the cause and the point of orgin if it was tramppled by the first engines or crews on Scene makes the job even tougher for the Investigation to be timley. If you have any questions I can answer let me know and I have a few websites you can go on for what the fires are doing and for up to date info.

Matt

I thought they had dogs who could figure it out (meaning is accelerants where used).....regardless....
hope everyones ok....doesnt look like the weekend is going to help...dew point is pretty low to none existitance

the dogs are used more offten in a structure fire were they think accelerants have been used more offten refered to as a hot start most wildland fires are less complex I cant get into details but most devices are very simple in the start of these fires which makes it very hard to find out the cause and what was used to start it. But the biggest and hardest part is finding the person who did it.

didnt they use a dog to sniff out the acclerants that the one firefighter used to start "wild" fires a couple of years ago..? and then he got busted...

As of this morning the fire was only 6% percent contained. My station had 2 strike teams out. The main focus currently is the structures on Mt. wilson. This dry heat and low moisture has been kicking our a$$. We waited for on on-shore wind yesterday that seemed to never show. That would have brought some much needed moisture. We also lost 2 yesterday due to a rollover. RIP brothers.

Are you saying that humans are dumb? j/k .. :D

It sucks to be in the Valley right now, it is painful to breathe. The sun looked orange this morning. Be safe everyone!

Heard 2 firefighters died, their truck went off a dirt road.

Very unfortunate, these guys deserve a lot of credit by risking their lives.out.

The view from my house in La Crescenta today.
