OT: Good hotel/Place to stay near Des Moines for the fair?

My husband has to do some stuff at the fair this year and we'd like to stay overnight.........anyone local have any recommendations for a couple with a 13 mo old?

The Holiday Inn Express in Altoona probably isn't a bad idea. Nice new place too.

Places obviously will be booked so get reservations now. I send all of my clients to the Wildwood Lodge in West Des Moines. Nice place with a wilderness theme and quite reasonable as Des Moines goes. They also own the Comfort Suites, Sleep Inn and the new Holiday Inn at Jordan Creek. The management is quite good at all places. Plus if you have problems I know who to contact near the top if not the owner Mike Whalen, but I don't actually know him. They also own the Machine Shed restaurant which is a must eat in Des Moines.
