OT: Google Sketchup help

So I'm trying to create a virtual environment to test some stand design ideas and align structural supports. I'm playing in Sketchup...

As best as I can understand it, I can push/pull surfaces to create the illusion of drawer fronts, doors, cavities, etc. But if I want to then turn it into an object I can drag around and place in different areas of my virtual living room I have to hold 'ctrl' and select each individual facet? Sounds like a long way around the problem.

Do I then create a 'component' or 'group'?

Seems like the alternative of actually drawings doors etc. separately then attaching them would be even more tedious...

Anybody?

Yeah, sketch-up is a killer program, but I can't work it at all :(

Good luck, I'll be tagging along :D

Sketch up is a nice program. It is easy if you had some CADD training, then it's cake. You can take CADD courses at the community colleges, good class and for the price it's well worth it.

Ed Simmons, our local CAD expert and fellow reefer might be able to help you out. He drew up my tank and flow designs and did an kick *** job.

I guess I should read through the whole thread before replying!. I was gonna pretty much iterate Mike's comments, then saw Ed found his way here too, so nevermind.
