OT: How are the Dart Frogs doing?

i have 2 of those lil picotope tanks. right now they are home to my brain coral, peppermint shrip, star & cleanup crews. once i get my new build finished, i want to turn one of them into a dwarf seahorse tank & maybe the other into a dart frog habitat

the ones like angela got from fishdoc(?) are what i'd want

My 3 azureus are doing well. They have shown some growth since I've had them (going on 6 months now). The tank has grown in a lot too. About 2 weeks ago, I finally got around to getting some riccia. I think I'm going to eventually phase out all my java moss as the riccia grows in.

I've got a 10g set up now too, and I should have a variabilis pair coming to me within 1 to 1.5 weeks for that, which I'm pretty excited about. In the coming months, I plan to get a 36" long rack going, with 3 shelves. I'm thinking 3 10g or 18g verts for the middle shelf, fruit fly cultures, grow out tanks and supplies for the top shelf, and the bottom shelf will be used for my current 10g and also a 10g freshwater tank I'm hoping to use for some koi eggs or fry, assuming I can score some free ones this spring/summer. I may end up getting a 48" rack instead, but I'm still undecided. My 20g will remain my main display in my living room area.

As for my future tanks, I wouldn't mind a tree frog, some local area frogs, or pumilo. There's also some tincs and auratus I wouldn't mind having, but they're lower on my list.

I'll try to get some current pics this week. How are your frogs?

my frogs are doing pretty good....they've gotten pretty big now.....no recents pics but i will post some soon

Here are a few bad pics of one of my set ups. Thanks to Ckreef for holding onto my frogs for ummmm, like 6 months till I got the tank ready. Man time flies!! And I thought getting a good pic of a fishtank was challenging! ANyways, horriable pics but you can get an idea....

There is a huge peice of mopani wood in the left corner that I have a MJ 400 powering a waterfall to and a tiny fountain pump that has a cool waterproof bulb that I buried under the rocks in the pond that gives a way cool light glow in the pond at night.

Boy I also got crazy with the dirt part trying to make the pond deep enouph I got the false bottom/rock part so tall the dirt is stupid deep but its a tall tank and looks OK I think....

A little better look at the water feature. It turned out real nice and has a nice trickling sound that is very soothing at night....

Ther are also some babies that I am not sure of the name in there that are very secrative..

out where? You culture your own fruitflies Its easy! If you have any questions about feeding just PM me.

Yep, just did a huge Joshs frog order for 2 kinds of flies, springtails and grub things. Plus 100 cups to culture in and 4 lbs of culture media. I should be set for .... um ....ever I hope :).

The flies are much easier than I imagined. And the internet makes stuff like this so easy.

F&F That is so funny!
I am amazed he had such great luck raising his first batch of tads. I think he had almost 100% survival.
Wish I could say the same for me after I took them home :(. One just wouldn't eat and one climed out of the 40 tall and was found compleatly on the other side of the house dried up. I have 3 left fat and happy.

FWIW I have TONS of culture media if anyone local needs some. I ordered 8 lbs of Hydei fly and 8 lbs of Melanogaster media and fresh fly cultures of flightless and the larger Hydei flies as well as some springtails if anyone needs a start. I also ordered 100 of the culture cups with vented lids. I always go overboard but have lots of freinds wanting to get into the frogs so I got plenty of stuff to go around.

Ah crap......I knew it was a terrible mistake to read this thread. Not only that, I had to go find the first thread CK started a while back.

:( I want one.... :sad1:

CKreef...do you have a link to your build thread? I am interested in starting a dart frog terrarium..thought it may be something me and my oldest daughter could do together since she just lost her best friend this past sunday(Whiskey) Our 8yr old pitbull.

No I dont have a build thread. I may start one soon. I think I am about to set up a 120 terrarium. I found a tank for $80 so now i just need to build a stand. My plan is to have the 120 on the top of the stand with the 2 18"x18"x18" exoterras underneath.

my frogs are doing great. My tank however needs an overhaul. My first attempt was fun but now that I know a little more I want to make huge changes. Bigger tank, better plants, better filtration and drainage, better everything....
Anyone doing builds lately other than ckreef?

Angela what is the name of that plant floating on top of your water pond. i just re-arranged my tank a little and cut back some of the creeping fig and OMG there are frogs in here...lol. But I made a small pond that I want to get some tiny fish for (which is another question what kind of fish to get) and I love that plant.
