OT: How many divers are there on this forum

Funny, I was just gonna start a thread about us meeting for Our World Underwater, in Feb!

I have been diving & taking underwater photos for 9 years. Started out in Hawaii. I get to the Caribbean about 2x/year & take extra trips with WetWebMedia. They took me to the Red Sea about 2 years ago. We dive in Pearl Lake in the summertime, just to keep up our skills.

My first time was off of Grand Turk and we were back again this past May. We went to North Caicos this time. I dont like the cold water either but I dont mind the low vis. I dove quite a bit this summer in Haigh Quarry, the beginning of the season was real cold. I managed to get in one night dive this year as well.

I am advanced open water certified but I don't dive as much as I would like. I refuse to go in cold water anymore. My last good trip was to Fiji.

Paddlefish

Nope, the closest I have been was two minutes. Two guys descended ahead of me, I was still swimming out to the truck. They said they saw it as they were descending. I am hoping that this year I will get to see it though. BTW, The guys ahead of me said they screamed like little gils when they saw it. LOL I guess it came out of nowhere. I heard it is getting big.

Scuba School, US Marine Corps, 1987...worked for 1st, 3rd ANGLICO and 1st Force Reconnaissance before choosing to get commissioned and fly...unfortunately, when you have a limpet mine on your back, or do it for "work", you don't always get a chance to find octopus, enjoy corals, fish, dolphin or else...even if it work was in Roatan Island, Thailand, and many other fun places...

If I knew then what I knew now...

Haven't been diving in 2 years...most recently diving for Lobster in Southern California...haven't gone diving here...no drysuit...:)

The pics of the paddlefish are interesting, it looks like an experiment gone wrong. Glbtrottr, Dry suit? Nothing a 7 mil wont take care of. JK I might invest in one someday but for now I will wait till the ice clears before I go.

The paddlefish at Haigh are just like ghosts, I was lucky and saw three in one day.....Two were shadows that I saw out of the corner of my eye and when I turned I got to see the tail as they swam away and the third was by accident I was low on air and on the other side of the lake, so I swam along the surface and looked down in the water and one was about four feet below me just swimming along with me.....Strange looking is to say the least

PADI Open Water certified just last month (man was that cold). Looking forward to some warm water dives next year.

The wife gave me a PADI certificate for my birthday last year, I still haven't gotten around to do it.

PADI cert for a few years. Have about 20 dives under my weight belt, but unfortunately they've all been on cruises.:( Except for my cert dives at Pearl. I only live about 20 min away from Pearl, but haven't been since my cert. dives. Too freakin cold for me. Diving in Jan on cruise yet again (can't complain too much when they are free!:D ). Diving Key West Grand Cayman, and Cozumel.

I got my Advanced Open Water Card from PADI but dont get a chance to dive much. Only thing around here is rock quarries that are cold and nothing to see. When I go on vacation I try to find a good dive shop but seems you have to go out of the US to get a good visablity dive.
