OT: I just found my German Sherperd Dead

Sorry for your loss :( They do leave pawprints on your heart.

Larger boned dogs don't live as long as the little toys, so it's possible your GSD may have passed on at 9. Could she have gotten into any snail bait by any chance? One of my co-workers just had their Shiba Inu spend 3 days at the vet over that.

Nope she was perfectly fine, nothing laying around our backyard for her to eat. I still can't believe she is gone. Whenever I worked on my tanks, she would watch what I was doing. This morning I was about to change her water and put out new food, then I remembered.

First of i am sorry for your loss, i too lost a dog on 4th of july of last year and when ever iu hear fireworks i think of her...:(

but as an Ex Fedex employee who has been chased by several dogs please understand that if you have a dog in your yard and he is not chained or behind a fence POST A SIGN!!!

you may be mad at the UPS guy but he is the one that was bit by your dog when he was just doing his job..

sorry i just hate it when people dont see what they "didn't do"

sucks to hear about your loss.

as a trashman, i have been bit and chased a few times. i love dogs but i understand what its like when a person tells me "it wont bite" and then it bites me. SIGNS are necessary. but ive also known people who have poisoned animals because the owner and other person didnt get along. i would investigate it.

I understand your idea.. our dog was sitting on our front lawn, my sister was with him..he was chained to a tree... the UPS man asked if it was ok to deliver the package, if the dog wont bite, my sister said sure go ahead.. so the idiot ran past the dog.. of course that triggers an instinct....

Our dog did no bite him..he grabbed him with his mouth..no scratch, no blood..no harm done... you would sue for that?? If so, you are just as wrong as he was. Money hungry good for nothing.

Anyways, that isnt what this thread is about so i digress...

Wish we had our German still available, i'd offer him to you, but he was recently adopted by a loving family...good luck ..

People that get bit by dogs are simply pretty dumb people in some scenerios. There are certain movements, gestures, actions, one should not do when faced with a big dog that has never seen you, especially wen your on the dogs property.... But in this case someone wearing a matching brown fit, with a big package is something for any protective dog to consider..

Ron I would have gotten the blood test, just to be sure and safe knowing someone in the neighborhood, or something toxic( gas leak, rat poison, etc.. that isnt visible at the time was around...

It will usually take a couple months, if not ever before u can go out and adopt another dog.

I hope your next dog will fill that hole up ur missing inside right now...

Good Luck

Sam

Sorry about your dog. I lost one of mine this summer. It was very hard. She was an awesome lab. I had her for 8 years. She had cancer and I had to have her put to sleep. It was one of the hardest things I have ever done. It's no fun to see your dog go from energetic and spunky to lethargic and in pain.

I feel your pain. Your dog is a part of your blood and soul. Hang in there. It will always hurt. Try and think of all the great times you had with your dog. I am sure your sheperd is with you right now.

Not to be corny & chessy but this kind of help me out when I lost my dog,

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they miss someone very special to them; who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. YOU have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

THEN YOU CROSS RAINBOW BRIDGE TOGETHER...

I, too, am so sorry for your loss. They ARE family members. It hurts more deeply and for a longer time than anyone ever anticipates. I'll bet he remembers all the times you worked on your tank too.

As for your suspicions, anyone who would poison an innocent and friendly creature will get what's coming to him eventually.
