OT: In need of some carpentry skills

I'd like to build a little indoor wooden hut for my boys. My kids have autism and we need a "sensory free" little space. Just a 3 or 4 foot square box with a door where they can go and chill when needed. We've used cardboard boxes in the past, but they don't last long, so I'd like something a little sturdier.

My husband and I have no carpentry skills, and the guys at Lowe's say we'd be better off getting someone else to do this for us. I know we have some skilled people here. I'd be happy to pay someone for their time.

Get with Paul or TimV, they can help you out i bet. Both great guys and even better carpenters.

Wish i was there, i Would come build it for you today. I gotta big soft spot for special needs kids. I would even supply the lumber.

That's very sweet of you!

I'm a little surprised that the whole, "You can do it. Lowe's can help." thing doesn't apparently apply to us. I was thinking, wooden box, how hard can it be? But they sent Mark home empty handed.

I sent Paul a PM for you. I bet ya he will help you out. He has a heart bigger than his tank when it comes to kids.

I appreciate the offers to help. You all are great! A friend of ours is bringing us a huge x-ray machine shipping box this weekend. It's really thick industrial strength cardboard. I think I'll be able to cut it into two little huts if it's not too thick for our tools.

So, I think for now, we're good. Thanks again!
